Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) is an environmental and social justice organization dedicated to cultivating equitable access to outdoor experiences for Bay Area communities. BAWT empowers teachers and other adults who work with youth through outdoor leadership training and loans camping and hiking gear to these groups from our own Gear Library. BAWT prioritizes support for low-income youth and youth of color, ensuring that its services, practices, and partnerships reflect and uplift the values of equity, environmental stewardship and community empowerment. Through the transformative power of nature and community, BAWT helps create meaningful, lasting connections to the outdoors for youth.
