We are pleased to welcome another new project to the ever-expanding Earth Island family. The Children in Nature Collaborative helps communities and families to understand the benefits of letting children spend unstructured time in nature. Based in Mountain View, California, the project is part of a national movement focused on helping people create healthier lives and more vibrant communities through restoring their relationship with nature and each other. Given that American children today spend less than half an hour a week in unstructured outdoor play and nearly 44 hours with electronic media, the Children in Nature’s efforts are vital.
