Destined to be paved over with concrete, the City of Berkeley approached Streets Alive! to plant and adopt the median on Oxford way between Kittridge and Allston. Thanks to a small army of volunteers at Oxford Plaza Apartments and Cal Berkeley, the Oxford Strip now thrives with blooming succulents and native coastal scrub. For more photos, follow this link.
As part of 350.org Day of Climate Action on 10/10/10, Streets Alive! developed a garden plan for a neglected plot of land in South Berkeley at the corner of Adeline and Alcatraz. Click here for the transformative photos.
Adeline and Alcatraz:
In 2012, we teamed up with The Berkeley Project in an effort to revegitate and revitalize a section on Adeline and Alcatraz. Cal Berkeley students contributed enthusiastically to this piece of public landscape by transforming the plot of land into a green heaven. Visit here for more photos of the amazing day!
