Missouri Raises the Bar in Energy Efficiency for the Nation

High Voltage Power Lines

Renew Missouri’s legislative work in energy efficiency continues to pay off: In September, the American Council for an Energy Efficiency Economy announced that Missouri is the most improved state in the nation in energy efficiency.

The council’s 2016 Energy Efficiency Scorecard report shows that Missouri rose from 44th to 32nd in the nation due to continued improvement in utility energy efficiency programs, state programs and financing mechanisms, and new policies to encourage electric vehicles. Stronger energy efficiency building codes in cities across the state have also had an impact. For example, Kansas City adopted an ordinance requiring large buildings to benchmark their energy usage, which we know leads to much more efficient buildings. Congratulations Renew Missouri for your impactful work! Read the full report.
