In Burkina Faso in West Africa, 90% of rural households practice poultry farming and the majority are women. Yet only 6% of rural areas have access to sustainable energy making it difficult to leverage modern technologies to improve productivity.

EnergieRich is creating a pathway out of poverty for smallholder poultry farming through locally produced, innovative renewable energy solutions.

Bringing together underrepresented STEM students from universities, communities in Burkina Faso and engineering professionals – EnergieRich’s solar powered egg incubator is poised to increase productivity in poultry farming, create jobs and reduce out-migration in rural areas.
