Carl Thorton Park
Cienega de la Ranas habitat restoration
Grantee: City of Santa Ana Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency
Award: $25000
Total Cost: $116200

The project restored wetland and riparian habitat at Carl Thorton Park, a 35-acre park site located in Santa Ana. Restoration consisted of removing non-native exotic grasses and planting a combination of bulrush cattail and sedges, lined by a cottonwood-willow forest in certain areas. In appropriate adjacent upland areas, coastal sage scrub habitat was restored.
