As part of a multi-million dollar restoration project over 50,000 square feet of iceplant invading the Lagoon is slated for removal and it is probable that a private consultant will be contracted to eradicate the infestation. This proposal details a vision to remove the iceplant, as well as salvage native salt marsh plants, by initiating a community-oriented program focused on service learning and supported by the City of Long Beach. This project is an opportunity to set a precedent for public contribution and education.
