Climate Wise Women is a global initiative to promote women’s leadership on climate change and to give a human face and voice to an issue that sits squarely at the nexus of the conversation on gender equality, environmental justice, food security, the eradication of extreme poverty, and public health. Climate Wise Women speaking events present the stories of women leaders from regions affected by climate change in their own voices. In a moderated interactive discussion, women from diverse backgrounds make common ground in sharing their narratives and demonstrate women’s wisdom and leadership in addressing climate change. After completing a successful North American tour in April 2010, Climate Wise Women is developing a November 2010 tour of the Southern US, a Spring 2011 tour of Europe, and special events at international gatherings such as the Civicus World Assembly (Montreal/August 2010) and COP 16 (Cancun/December 2010).
