Brower Youth Awards
Presented by Earth Island Institute’s New Leadership Initiative, the Brower Youth Awards are recognized as the most prestigious prize in North America for bold young environmental leaders ages 13-22.
Since 2000, the Brower Youth Awards program has honored outstanding youth leaders who exemplify leadership in the environmental movement. Each year, six young people based in North America are awarded the prize, joining a growing and diverse cadre of green leaders who are publicly recognized for their sustainable projects, innovative ideas, and informed analyses. Over the first 17 years, 110 young leaders have been honored!
The engagement with and support of BYA Awardees continues year-round. In addition to receiving a $3,000 cash prize, each winner is the subject of a professionally made featurette film profiling his/her cause, and various speaking and media opportunities throughout the week of the Awards Ceremony. After their night of celebration, these young leaders continue to receive coaching, funding information, and networking opportunities throughout the year as well as access to Earth Island's network of local and international thought leaders and activists. Additional funding and support are provided to the awardees as well as the broader community of young leaders who are in various stages of project development through the New Leaders Initiative John Goddard Prize for Environmental Conservancy.
You can learn more about the program and meet some of the recent winners at the Brower Youth Awards website.
