Tell NY Governor to Walk the Talk on Climate

Join the largest climate rally ever directed at New York Governor Cuomo in Albany, NY on April 23! On the day after Earth Day thousands of New Yorkers will be coming together to call on the governor to halt all fracking infrastructure projects, move swiftly and justly to 100 percent renewable energy, and make corporate polluters pay. Earth Island's Seeding Sovereignty has been working with communities from across that state that are being impacted by fracking. Despite banning fracking, Governor Cuomo continues to support a massive build-out of fracking infrastrucutre that harms these communities and the climate. It's time for Governor Cuomo to walk the talk on climate! Learn more at cuomowalkthetalk.org.

Action Needed Today to Protect Our Forests!

The Congress has proposed a provision in the Omnibus Appropriations Bill that would categorically exclude 3,000-acre logging projects on Federal Forest Land from environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act. This proposal is bad for forests, bad for the climate, and won't protect communities from wildfires. If the bill — which will be voted on by midnight tomorrow — passes, areas as large as three times the size of Golden Gate Park could be clear cut without proper analysis of impacts to the environment or public scrutiny! EII's John Muir Project urges you to call Democrat Party leaders — Senator Chuck Schumer (202 224-6542) and Representative Nancy Pelosi (202 225-4965) — and your local senators today and tell them to strip this provision from the Omnibus Bill or to vote against this bill in its entirety. Find contact information for your senators here.
