- To safeguard the description 'Dolphin-Safe tuna' which are tuna products that are caught without setting nets on dolphins or whales, without dolphin or whale mortality or serious injury, or by use of high seas driftnets.
- To issue a license to participating companies authorising them to use the 'Dolphin Safe' logo, a European Union trade mark registered by Earth Island Institute and setting forth all requirements for any such use.
- To administrate, oversee, monitor and promote the agreement in respect of the Dolphin Safe International Monitoring Program with Importers, Distributors, Institutions, Manufacturers and Multiple Retailers of products containing tuna fish.
