    Help us recruit talented emerging environmental leaders for the Brower Youth Award. You will help us execute our web 2.0 marketing plan using social networking sites and blogs, reach out via phone and email to our grassroots environmental partners in the call for youth entries, and help us plan an exciting mix of activities for the 2008 Award recipients. In addition, you will become familiar with the Bay Area environmental movement and empower youth making a difference!     Want to write? Edit? Learn page layout? Earth Island Journal, the award-winning quarterly magazine of Earth Island Institute, is seeking volunteer interns for 2005. This is a flexible yet extensive learning experience. Our interns receive hands-on training in diverse aspects of magazine production, from research to proofreading and all stages in between. This is a unique opportunity for budding writers looking to build clips or more established writers who want to learn what goes on behind the scenes at a magazine, while gaining a better understanding of environmental issues. Come work in a friendly, intelligent environment in the fabulous North Beach neighborhood.

      Global Service Corps (GSC) is now offering a special family package on its Thailand volunteer vacations and programs. Kids under the age of 15 may accompany their parent(s) participating on a variety of projects, and the kids will not be charged a program fee.   • Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT): Learn about outdoor leadership AND help urban kids enjoy the outdoors! BAWT needs your volunteer energy. We train adults who work with youth to lead outdoor trips, and provide free access to gear year-round so they can take kids on trips. It takes a lot of behind-the-scenes work to make this happen. Be a Program Support Intern to help coordinate and run our training courses and workshops. Or, be our Gear Room Intern to help manage our library of camping and backpacking equipment which is loaned out to classes and youth groups. Small, fun office and staff at Earth Island in SF. Flexible schedule, short term possible. Will train, but must be reliable, organized and able to work independently. Gear Room Intern must be somewhat agile, able to lift boxes and climb a little.
