Brief Summary of the Earth Island Journal
Earth Island Journal is an award-winning international environmental news magazine published quarterly by Earth Island Institute. Founded by environmental pioneer David Brower in 1982, the Journal reports local news from around the world, with uncompromising coverage of environmental and social issues everywhere.
The Journal is not content simply to identify environmental problems: The magazine also promotes solutions. Whenever possible, we include details our readers need to "take action" on the topics we cover.
Earth Island Journal reaches more than 22,000 households throughout the US and overseas. Most of our readership receives the Journal through membership to Earth Island Institute, but EIJ also is commercially distributed throughout the US and Canada. Approximately 8,000 copies are available at bookstores, newsstands and libraries.
Our readers are well-educated people, many of whom are activists, with a keen interest in environmentally sound products and services.
