Two years after David Brower's death and one year after that of his wife Anne, the Brower Legacy is alive and well.

Active Projects include:

The David Brower Center: a model green building and hub for international environmental activism proposed for downtown Berkeley to open as soon as 2006.

David Brower Youth Awards: the most prestigious national environmental prize for activists 13-22 ($3000 cash to six winners plus ongoing leadership development), first awarded in 2000.

Brower New Leaders Initiative: the Brower Fellowships Program that was being developed at Earth Island Institute has evolved to focus on the continuing development of the winners of the David Brower Youth Awards as effective environmental leaders in the tradition of David Brower.

The David Brower Papers: Brower's personal archives will become available to the public at UC Berkeley's Bancroft Library in Fall of 2003.

Spaceship Earth: a bronze, life-size sculpture of Brower and a blue quartzite Earth is completed and awaiting assembly once a world class location is secured. A film, entitled "Monumental," on David Brower and the making of this monumental piece of public art is also in production, release date pending the final siting of the sculpture.

Books: Earth Island is assisting with several new books that are being written on the life and impact of David Brower. No release dates are yet available.

"Brower University Alumni Association:" Earth Island is gathering the community of people whose lives were impacted by their "encounters with the Archdruid,"to document this legacy, and to support and mentor the next generation of environmental leaders in the "School of Brower."

Shiprock Opportunity Grants: Brower Fund has a small, unendowed pool of money left to us by David Brower for use in seeding new organizations, ideas, and individuals who are continuing his work providing CPR for the Earth. Large organizations and/or old ideas need not apply. We are searching for people who would like our help giving away their money to Brower-worthy new efforts (donor advised giving).

If you would like to help or would like more information on any of these programs please contact us. ________________________________
